I suggest that you contact Shaun Torrente Racing on http://www.screamandfly.com/
He knows a lot about Merc 3.0 liters. I have purchased two 3.0 liter mercs from him and he is always very willing to help.

Ditto,
Shaun is the man with 3 litres, and has a 28 skater himself.

If I remember correctly his 3 liters are pushing 370 hp. With two of those on your Skater it would run over 100 mph. With three!!! If money and fuel economy isn't an issue go for three! That would be the way I would go. My .02 cents. Bob
