Thumbs up Prop update on my 272

I had an earlier thread about prop suggestions for watersking.

I've got a '95 272 with a 454 mag (stock), running a 23" mirage plus.

This past weekend I tested a 22" Bravo I, and it worked great! Gets out of the hole much better, and acceleration was greatly improved. I may have lost a couple mph on top end, but it's worth it. I've got one more prop to try for fun, but I'm going to stick with the Bravo.

Water is way too cold for skis yet... but I think this prop is the ticket.

What RPM with Bravo 22?? I run labbed Bravo 22 at 5000 in 272
but think not labbed might be better at midrange..

I wound it up to 5100 rpm's for a short stretch, then backed it off. And that was against the current and into the wind, so I'm sure it has a little more.
I could turn 5100 with my 23 mirage plus also, but not much more, no matter what conditions.

tunatime, what engine do you have?

Eric, I'll get some pictures when I get somebody crazy enough to ski! BTW- I looked closer at my wake, it's probably about a foot and half or so.

I agree that the Bravo is the better prop. I had a 23 Turbo Vect and then went to a Bronson Hill Labbed 26 Bravo. (also swapped to a supercharger motor too- that helps)...

Okay... same as me, is that all you can get from your labbed 22 (5000), or thats only as hard as you push it? I'm thinking I can probably hit the rev-limiter if I tried.
I've got a 24" Stilletto I'm going to try just for grins. It looks like a smaller diameter, so I'm thinking it may work. Maybe a week or two though.

I'm using a 24" turbo vector that I've been very pleased with on my 272 (502 mag). If you do a search through the baja posts you will see a detailed prop comparison that I did on this prop and a 23" mirage +. These (turbo vector) props are very reasonable. I'd like to try a 24" bravo 1 and will sometime this summer and add to the previous thead.
