Default Bent Marine, new orleans

I may be over reacting but this pissed me off!!

During running the tickfaw 200, I was losing drive oil and it was ending up in the bilge. So I traced the reservoir hose and concluded it was coming from the drive. I then pulled the drive and the drive bellow was full of oil...

Anyway, I walked into bent marine this morning to ask if they could fix it!!
So I told the service guy that I was losing oil from drive and the driveline bellow was full of oil, so he corrected me saying it was the gimbal bellow then preceded to tell me that I couldnt get oil in there.

At first, I paused and couldnt believe this guy was going to argue with me about this. So I told him it would if the yoke seal was leaking and I have it sitting in the back of my truck.

Then he said "oh, well we can't Look at it for at least 2 weeks!!

Which I realize most shops are busy, so I took it to Precision Marine instead... chris was more than helpful!!

Am I overreacting?? Or was the bent guy a prick??

Over reacting. He could be having a bad day like anyone else. And in the height of season 2 weeks is normal for a non-regular customer. Marine service is not like auto service etc.

Sounds like a dick but........being around marinas and boats all my life I can see how a prejudice is developed towards unknown customers. Couple that with high stress spring time rush.

1 month is the usual service time here once Memorial day hits.

The scary thing is the busy shop with the additude is usually where the best techs and service is. Do you wonder about the guy that gets you in same day? Why is he not busy?

Correcting you is a small issue, 2 weeks delay when everyone is first splashing boats (and finding problems) sounds pretty good IMO. If you had found the problem in January I bet he could have looked at it that day!!!!

hell of a way to get NEW customers even if your busy that is no excuse!!! kinda ashamed for the owner of the biz!!!
I ran into this kinda attitude when looking for my boat....peek of the buying season (in a down market)!! most had no time to discuss their product once they found out I had never owned a go fast.
it's their loss at bent in the end!!!

So it sounds likei wasn't overreacting! I understand the 2 weeks as it's starting to get hot. I was the first customer as I walked in through showroom b/c they didn't even open the gate yet so I would hope his day didn't start out bad before even got to work!!

I figured they were the closest from work to me... Pecision said they would do my lil hour job in the next week as they threw on a stand...

Guy from mid steam finally called me back, I have heard good things about them too (picayune). He sounded really nice and helpful on the phone also! If I have more problems (hope not) I will tow there next vs towing thru new Orleans to precision!!

Thanks guys for the input!!

Sorry about your problems.

My CC get all work done at Bent and I have never had a problem with them. Always very helpfull and always done when they say they will be done. I do have to say I have all my service done in the off season to avoid the crazy summer time rush.
