Default Bottom Paint

My son is looking for his first boat and the boat he is interested in has bottom paint on it. Any tricks for removal back to the original Gel?

It is a tremendous amount of work. Not worth it. I bought a 23' boat with bottom paint and thought I could use good paint remover, wet sand and buff the bottom. Way too much work. I ended up painting the bottom again with a white color bottom paint.

I just did one on an old 280es baja. I used aircraft stripper on one side at a ,can't leave it on too long cause it will soften the fiberglass. pressure washed it off then wet sanded it quickly with 1,000 grit and compounded it..The only problem is you just don't know what is under the paint. There was alot of repairs on the bottom that you could not see.
