Default New style Gimbal Bearing from Mercury

I ordered a gimbal bearing kit that came with new bellows, gimbal bearing, and water inlet hose. The kit came with a sealed gimbal bearing and a plug to install where the grease fitting goes. I was wondering if anyone had used this bearing and has there been any issues with it? And should I have a grease seal installed in front of it if there is no grease being put into the bearing.

Installed 2 with no problems.

Another seal won't help since it's a sealed bearing.

Another seal can help keep stuff out. Pack grease in between bearing and seal. Where there's grease, there's less room for water.

The front seal has another function - if the bellows rips, the front seal will keep water out of your boat.

the front seal will not keep water out of the boat it was not meant for that is was put in the transom plate assy to keep grease from the gimball brg from slinging all over the inside of the boat the drive shaft just touches the seal.

I'd think the bearing being a sealed unit alone would slow water from leaking past it in an emergency, unlike the unsealed ones.
