Got a 454 gen VI mag. gonna set ignition timing. There are two modules on the back of the distributor. the engine has a mild warm-up. bored .60 over to a 468 and has a mild cam. I did not do the performance mods. the distributor is mercruiser. I replaced the oil pump while i had the engine out for a gimbal ring replacement. I primed the system using the drill tool. so i had the distributor out.... I do not know which module is on the distributor... was gonna set it at 12 advanced and and call it a day. due to what i have on the mercruiser ignition curves advance in the 20-24 range giving me a total of either 32,34,36 advancement. are the modules the same across the board. cuz i have this chart attached. so i could set the timing at idle accordingly. on a mild setup would 32 advanced be a good safe place?
sound like im going down the correct path? what are anyone else's thoughts?
thanks guys,
Mitch
