Smile Tachs Erractic

I just wanted to thank the person, who put the post up about how to run a ground wire from one of your dist. cap screws, to a block ground, to keep the tachs from being erractic. I did this on my 99' 502 M.P.I.'s, with Graffig tachs, and it solved the problem. They now read accurately, and steady at any rpm. Thank you again !.

Just an additional thought for you...do you have any running issues? misfire, rough idle? You may also want to check your plugs and more so plug wires. As they deteriorate their resistance goes up...spark/electricity unloads back at the cap/coil. Grounding the cap may only be treating a symptom. Anyway, just a thought to throw out there...

I did not have any running issues. The boat runs flawlessly.
