Default Ilmor 625?

I am thinking of swapping my 496ho and going with a Ilmor 625 ! Is there anything I should be aware of in regards to the swap (mechanically, etc)? Also is the 625 the same size as the 650? Reason I ask is b/c on the website I can see the length of the 650, but not the 625. Right now I have approx. 2-3 inches of front space and maybe another 4 behind the 496. And as long as the height is around the same, the air filter has another 3-4 inches more b/c of the swim platform. Im pretty sure "IF" I can fit this engine in, there will be no room left length wise

So does anyone have the dimensions of the 625?

Thanks in advance!!!

Did you try calling ILMOR? Ask for Ian Hawkins if he's in. Otherwise there are tons of guys willing to help. I'm willing to bet that the two engines are within 1/2" of each other in terms of overall length.

If you have room for the 650, you'll have room for the 625. The air filter extends back ~1.5-2" further on the 650 than it does on the 625, the headers are a little different for the Gen III as well and if you're going to use a rear mounting plate (bellhousing mounted) than it's in a different position (~5/8" farther forward) than the one shown on the Gen IV.

If you get in touch with Ian Hawkins at Ilmor or Ilmordude on here they should be able to help you out if you need something more specific.

Hope this helps,
Tom

Happen to know how much longer the 625 is compared to the 496?

DirtyJerz - we can provide you with the installation drawing of the 625 which shows all the dimensions, as well as walk you through the necessary mods you need to make (or consider) for the switch to V10 power. Just ask for Ian, Nick or Jessica.
