Default How to bring boat paint back to life???

My brother has just took over my parents old boat. It is a 94 Bayliner 2485 (or something like that). Anyway the boat has been sitting at the marina for about 10 years completly untouched . Completely exposed (no cover either) to all the elements New Jersey has to offer! He just finished the cockpit and cuddy interior, but even though the external paint / condition is in Much better shape than I assumed it would be, the paint still looks dull and weathered.

What would u guys recommend to try and bring back some of the original luster? Specifically any products b/c if there is any wet sanding involved, Im sure my brother will procrastinate doing that for another 10 years!

Thanks!

Hey Dave, my boat was left outside to the elements for 3 months while the motor was being replaced without my knowledge. Mechanic assured me that it was always indoors and now he's out of business of course. Naturally the color faded but biggest problem the entire boat is red and I'm having trouble restoring its original color and gloss. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks!

btw i have a Baja 252 Islander

if its just lightly faded Totsally Buff is probably gonna be fine. Use with a wool pad and finish it off with Vitero

Use that vibracut that glassdave used on his thread. The results speak for themselves. If glassdave uses it I wouldn't think twice about it, he's a genius and is like an encyclopedia to talk to. I've talked to him a few times and he takes the time to explain everything in detail! can't ask for more than that. Use vibracut and if you have any questions ask glassdave you won't regret it!
