I was working in the bowels of my boat, and I noticed two fire extinguishers mounted next to the the gas tank.....one on each side. They were mounted at about 45 degree angle with the "head" lower than the flat bottom. I could see that there was some dried "something" crusted around the head.

I clicked it out of the holder and could tell it was empty. As far as I can tell these are the originals installed on the boat as the manufacture date is 1993. I need to replace these with something, but what?

Automatic dry powder type? I don't think I need Halon. These are made by a UK company called Firemaster and are 0.7kg in size.

Any ideas?

Those are Halons, i would replace them with the same. If its ever needed i would think Halon would do a better job and no clean up.

they're some real cool folks I would give them a call.. a friend works there and has told me to talk to them about upgrading my halon to something that makes no mess, possibly they can do the same for you
