if you had the chance would you stay 1.36 or go to 1.5.
just blew a drive (long story), and one of the things ive been hearing during prop selection has been "aw your only runnin 1.36's all the new drives are 1.5"
is it worth the effort?

It all comes down to props. How fast is your boat, what props do you spin?
When the pitch gets too high in number a paddle wheel effect happens. basically, you have to exert more effort just turning the prop than it is worth until you get really moving. So for 'regular' performance boats you'll see the pitch is usually in the same range with ratio changed to make it happen. Generally you'll see 23-27 pitch on factory boats.
This gives you the best all around performance.

Stick with the 1.36. I switched to 1.50 and lost speed and acceleration. I don't care what they might tell you. See avatar for size of boat.

I was told the opposite.Joe at Hustler told on the 388's that the 1.50 with 30p was faster than the 1.36 w/ 26-28 at the same rpm.I havent test it though

I have a sunsation 32 running hp 500's with 1.36 spinning mirage 23, top speed at 80+ mph... would stick with that instead of running maybe... 27 to...??? 30 pitch? much easier to find, new or used, in the 23 range than higher...
