Default Opinions on 37-42 ft boat. Cabin Space!

Currently in a 35' Fountain Ex and we enjoy the boat, however the interior cabin space is very small, especially for a taller (6'3") guy like myself. Also the scalloping of the Fountain hull reduces the interior room side-to-side as well. The width isn't that big of a deal, but I would like some more length and height. A friend has an OL 37' Stiletto that has tons of room and I am looking for one, but would like other options to consider as well as they are hard to find. I've also seen a 37 AT, so that too is in the running. I am considering anything up to 42-43 ft, but my pockets aren't bottomless. Just looking for opinions- THanks!

Best option out there for room is the 38' Powerquest for $45k in TX. If you are looking for flat out performance it probably isn't the best choice, but @ 6' 3" I think you will like the cabin and layout.

I'm thinking pre-owned here. All of these will have decent sized cabins...

37 OL
37 AT
386 Sonic
43 Black Thunder(this will be your biggest by far)
38 Cigarette

If top speed isn't your biggest factor, a Baja 36 or 40 Outlaw has a big cabin and the biggest cockpit of any go fast out there. Lots of nice used ones for sale right now.

Check out some of the used 43 NorTechs. Nicest and well laid out cabins. 6'7" at its tallest point, but overall 6'4"" in the kitchen and head area, down to 5'6" at entry of V-Berth. Ive owned 3 of them and do not like to have to bend down to much walking in the cabin. For over nighting this is a perfect set up. Ive seen one as low as 229k

Second choice..check out the 40 Hustler Classic and 41 versions. 6'3" headroom, also very nice, but not as wide as the NorTech. There are a few under 100k.

Good Luck. Jeff

36 Apache has some generous cabin space. Any of these boats with raised fairings (AT, Sonic) will open up a little more headroom space.

Look at Baja 38 Specials too.
I'm tall and love the headroom and the size of my salon,
but hate the fuel consumption of the 2 supercharged motors.
Note, they're not that fast compared to other boats of the same size by Fountain, Cig, etc... but I can hit the low 70's anytime I choose.
I called it my jack of all trades boat purchase, she's fast enough to be respectable in the go fast crowd and roomy enough to do the same with the cruiser crowd.
During my search they were always great on the seller's asking prices.

See ya,'
Kelly
