I spoke to Mercury Racing about replacement decals for the flame arrestors on my 1999 HP 500's and was given part number 37-848597. I ordered these from a Mercury distributor and instead of decals, I received new "tops" for the flame arrestors with the decals already applied. These tops are flat and have 1/2" holes at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock position that are not the same as the originals which have a beveled edge and only a carb stud hole. Can anyone explain what flame arrestors these are for and why Merc sent me ones that don't match? To make matters worse, the plastic bag was opened and the distributor will not take them back. Thanks for any info!
