Default 502 Mag MPI Impeller Change???

I need to change the impeller in my 502 Mag. Its the engine where the water pump and the fuel pump are connected. I was doing some searching online and couldn't find much info on it. I have a 27 Fever with one engine so there is some room in the bilge to work. Has anyone done this and is it a PITA or is it something I could do without much knowledge of it? Any tips would be much appreciated.

So youre talking about the sea water pump? Didnt think this had anything to do with the fuel pump. Is yours the cool fuel setup? My motors are 1998 502 MAG MPI. The fuel pump are electric and completely separate.
As for the impellers, it was easy to change on my boat (Sonic). But I think the singles might be a little harder. Just take the whole pump off, should be on bottom left side when looking at the front of motor. There will be two large hoses coming out the back of it to take off as well. A v-belt on the front too (Mine has single serpentine setup.)

And while you have the pump off, take the screw out from the side and drain the oil that lubricates the fuel pump cam. Then refill with Merc gear oil (outdrive oil) or any good quality gear oil. It will smell like fuel when it drains, but that is normal.

Does anyone know if you are supposed to lubricate the impeller, and if so with what?

Use dish soap, it will dilute and wash out as soon as the water starts flowing, oils, greases, etc arent good because the will sometimes get stuck in there, dish soap lubricates very well.
