The time is getting close to buy tires for my tow vehicle. It is a 2006 Sequoia Limited. Previous owner installed a set of Bridgestone Dueller AT's in the factory 265-65-17 size. I believe these are load range "D". They seem to be a decent tire, but are just about worn out. I had a set of BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A's on my 'Burb, and loved them. However, after the cost overruns on the engine for the boat, I'm not sure if I will be able to stomach tossing out $1000+ for a set of those babies. I saw that BFG recently released the Rugged Terrain T/A, and was wondering if anyone is running these.

Part of me wants to put a set of load range E tires on this truck to help with towing stability, but honestly, it spends most of its life being driven by the wife, and doesn't go off road much. That being said, I still want to have a semi-aggressive all terrain design instead of a pure highway tread. We get some decent snows during the winter sometimes, and I don't want to deal with a tire that can't handle snow.

Looking for any opinions or suggestions. BTW, if Mama Tryed wants to toss his hat in the ring, I welcome it - I am just up the road from you in Louisville.

I had BFG Rugged Trail T/A on the dually and they were awesome..........I've read many other reports on that tire and everyone had the same opinion.

Ran Rugged Trail E-ranges in 17" on my 2500 Avalanche for several years, (including towing). GREAT tires.

Thanks for the answers guys, but the Rugged Trail T/A is an older design. The Rugged Terrain T/A is their new tire - just released this year. It looks to be somewhere between the Rugged Trail and the All Terrain T/A in tread aggressiveness. The similar naming for these tires gets a bit confusing.

I was hoping to find someone who has used the Rugged Terrain T/A and maybe managed to rack up some miles on them. It's tough to get much of an idea on what the life expectancy will be on a new tire design.

I might just have to cough up the wad and go for the All Terrain T/A's. I have also been hearing a lot of good things about the Michelin LTX M-S tires. These look to have a very mild, car-like tread design, but the guy at the tire store swears they have some of the best wet and snow traction he has seen, and I have seen quite a few reviews on TireRack that support what he says.

Right, but I bet the new Terrain is more related to the Trail than anything else. I'd think that BFG AT KO would be a bit to aggressive for a Sequoia.

Also, take a hard look at the Yokohama Geolander line. They all score very high on the Govt and Retailer test sites.

FYI: We have the Michelins on the wife's 2500 suburban......70K on them and at least a 1/4 inch of tread left still.

i have the firestone destination a/t on my burb..they have a 9.8 rating across the board and are great in the snow..had the bfg's you quoated before,great tire when they were new but after about 20k they were like slicks in the snow..
i put 285/75/16 e range,cost was $740.00 and i put them on..
