I have a 92 Thunder. It is going to go up for sale as soon as I get the upolstry redone. HP500's. They are great boats. No known issues with these boats. Ride great, good speed.

I think Wellcraft denotes a Kevlar layup under the HIN.
WELXXXX0003192
KEVLAR
So look for it.

Wellcraft did not denote their Kevlar hulls .... The only mark may have been a Kevlar 49 decal on either the left rear transom or on the port and starboard side near the rear seat.... If the decals wore off or were taken off ,you will have no way to telling on the boat by just looking at it..
Wellcraft records are in shambles and I dont think anyone can tell you for sure even if you called the factory.
Some guys say you can tell by the gell or the glass layup but I dont think so----

well thats a good thing cause it doesnt denote it in or around the VIN.. but the wellcraft write up and the owner both say so , thanks for the input

One other thing you can check--- If the owner of the boat purchased the boat new ask to see the original purchase order,he should have no problem showing it to you if he wants to sell the boat. The Kevlar should be on that purchase order as a very expensive option ---Can't speak for the later models but thats the way that option was included in the boat when they first started offering it that way. I think 2002 was the last year for that when they stopped making the I/O Scarabs---- Too bad they had to stop !!! Great Boat !!!

Get the boat surveyed before you sign the papers, may cost some money but you wony be sorry later...... Let the buyer beware !
