Discovered a 6" long scratch and several chips out of the gel coat on a bottom strake. One repair guy wanted to take it back to his shop and another said it could be fixed on the lift. There is a huge difference in price and I don't really care if the color matches. Just want it to be smooth and to protect the fiberglass. Any suggestions?

Don't matter where its done as long as its done right. I'll be down at LOTO the second week of August and got a few gel repairs to do while I'm down there. Shoot me an email, I can get it taken care of for you if you can wait a few more weeks.
