Default Removing painted on lettering?

How can I remove the painted on graffix on my boat? The previous owner had the name of the boat painted on the entire side of it. I started to use oven cleaner on it today and I am about half way thru the one side but it is taking forever to do. I was wondering if anyone knows of a better way to do it?
Thanks for any help
Jay

Oven cleaner is the only way I have ever done it. I know it's not fast or fun. Just make sure and use the real stuff (Easy Off Original) not store brands. I have found that the store brands don't work well at all.

yes, it's sold as Easy off heavy duty now and do not buy the fume free either as it does not work well...
