If I was shopping right now, I'd talk to Eddie Young. From what I have read, he will build you a motor then make sure it runs "right" in your boat.

Wanna hear warranty, recommended valvetrain service intervals, etc.....basically who builds the lowest maintenance 850 out there.

I think tommy at chief is the best but I dont know half as much as other people on here so I wanna see what they say..........

I think you will find that the merc 850 is extremely HIGH maintenance and short on life as compared to what Eddie , Teague & Chief have to offer.

That is what I was getting at, glad somebody agrees with me. I can't believe the people that just say mercury is the best without even giving thought to any of the other stuff out there
