How busy do the Public Docks get during this event? I was planing to go to PIB Saturday July 30th - Sunday July 31st. Normally I like to get there around 9:00am - 10:00 on Saturday morning. Is this a weekend that fills up early??? Thanx in advance guys!

I have heard Wednesdays are usually busy...
I plan on leaving early. Worst case, we will anchor infront of the monument, take the taxi in for the day and leave in late afternoon. Hopefully we will be able to get into the Public Docks or one of the privates.....
Either way, I am going to PIB Damn IT!!!

They charge now but have a shuttle service to shore as part of cost.
Be careful anchoring by the monument, it's shallow there.
Another trick is to dock at Middle Bass Island (next island, 2 mls north) and take the ferry back and forth. Used to be $2. p.p. each way. Two killer bars within walking distance of the harbor there as well.
Have fun. I've killed many brain cells there (both islands) and had large fun many, many times.

We'd anchor out there and then use our $20. Walmart inflatable to dinghy in. Saved $50. per night dockage as well.

They raft off almost every summer weekend, best bet is go early saturday and pray for the best, go Friday night, or pay for a membership at the Crews Nest and never have to worry about docking at public docks again
ACtually if you take a few fenders and don't mind being along the wall that is an option
