96' 454 mag mpi/efi motor, found a whiped out lobe. The number on the cam is 942179 on the top and 6209 on the bottom. The motor is stock. From what info I can find, it has a 510/510 lift with 115 lobe seperation. I dont know if this cam has the 5 degree advance or not. And has anyone changed cams with a better cam without changing the exhaust. The heads and intake are port and polished. And milled 0.010" And is there another way to re-program the ecm without paying someone $350 to play on the computer. Can anyone tell me what setup works.

That is a GM cam. You could increase the cam size just slightly and not do a recal of the ecm. But only slightly. The other option is to get a cam that that has a known ecm cal already written for it that has been dyno tested.

thanks. I was able to find the exact cam for $180 from mellings instead of mercs for $300.

I have a .6 lift cam but i had to modify exhaust for $150 by adding 9" internal ss pipe to solve reversion.
