Isn't it taking place inside the bay? If so, I would hope they wouldn't pull the plug based on water conditions! Now if they cancelled it due to heavy rain (fans dont like this for some reason) or for lack of permits, etc, I could see it... but water conditions inside that little bay??? Boy I sure hope not given it's an 'offshore' race!

The seas/waves were ridiculous last year. It was a nightmare just getting the boats out to the course from what I heard.

I'm bringing my kayak out in Irene.

Scott, if you're looking for a partner to go out and beat up some rough water, I'm in.

Anyone going to that race is nuts. They're talking about a category 3 hitting by Sunday morning. I wouldn't want my boat sitting out in a parking lot with 115mph winds. Regardless, I can't see an actual race happening.... the bay is pretty rough on a normal day, I couldn't imagine what its going to be like with a hurricane approaching! Here is a picture I took from my house two years ago during a tropical storm.

Yeah I was just checking on the hurricane and it looks pretty bad. There is no way this race can happen, unfortunately.
