Yes it is a good thing
Solid construction, fast hull, great company!!! Excellent customer support, even if you buy a used boat the folks over at Velocity will bend over backwards to help you out. I am actually vacationing in Florida beginning tomorrow, I have planed a trip to the Velocity factory to check things out an personally thank them for all of the help they have provided me.

I've owned two true 26ft velocitys.....my first had 600hp and my second velocity had 700hp.....great boats but you will have to drive it if you put the horsepower to them...keep it up on the pad and let it rip....i belive they get up on the pad at about 70ish...i spoke to steve stepp when i was setting the boats up and he was 1mph off on projected speeds....very helpful person

Thoroughbreds were always Steves Boats. Before he created Thoroughbred he was leasing the name and his molds to Regal. In 89 he started Thoroughbred. In 96 he got legal rights to use "Velocity" as his business name again. A nice history is posted on Velocity's website, http://www.velocityboats.com/history.html. The 26 Thoroughbreds 26 is a true 26' Hull. The newer 260's (like mine) are actually 24' with a 2' platform. I LOVE my Velocity.
I did think that they were sold to regal, but at any matter regal used the name.. John jr

I have a 280 which is the 260 with a swim platform. You will love it, the sweet spot in rough water is 50 - 55. I had 550hp and was running low 80's, I'm just finishing the new motor at 700hp hope to get in the high 90's. Very efficient hull lots of speed and fuel economy. When I tell people what I spend in gas a season they can't believe it.
