I just got back from the beach, things are just starting to pick up a little. The wind is slowly building, probably at about 10-15 mph now and the Sound is probably around 1.5' - 2'.

High tide is at 10 PM tonight, so I don't expect it will be much of an issue, but tomorrow morning's high tide (~10:30 AM) should be interesting as the eye of the storm should be rolling through in the AM. Let's hope the storm surge isn't too bad!

Marine forecast for LIS:
"Hurricane Warning in effect

Long Island Sound East Of New Haven Ct/Port Jefferson Ny-

Tonight
Tropical storm conditions expected with hurricane conditions possible. E winds 30 to 35 kt with gusts up to 45 kt... increasing to 35 to 45 kt with gusts up to 55 kt after midnight. Seas around 5 ft...building to 11 ft after midnight. Rain with isolated tstms. Vsby 1 to 3 nm.

Sun
Hurricane conditions expected. Se winds 45 to 65 kt... becoming SW 50 to 70 kt in the afternoon. Seas 14 to 15 ft. Rain. Vsby 1 to 3 nm.

Sun Night

Mon

So who's taking Monday off due to the storm and going boating???

I'm just hoping I don't get to check out the high tide inside my house!

The cops are driving down the road recommending we evac to north of I-95 or go to the town shelter... Ironically the town shelter is south of rt1.

We had a pretty good surge from the storm and a lot of trees down in the area, but it could have been a lot worse.

I have very limited cell service (if at all at this point) and no power. That big generator I bought 5 years ago and never used is starting to seem like the best damn investment I've made in a long time, haha! Gonna love having the AC on and watching movies!

Looking at the map of CT power outages, it looks like most of the state is w/o power... For those of you in CT, you can check your area here, assuming you have access to the internet.
