I recently purshaced a 1990 baja 250 ES with a 454 that was conerted over to closed cooling and would like to restore it to fresh water.
Looking to replace the below housing that is the original and can't locate one that is identical.

Would this design perform the same functions? What are the white plastic pieces, look like check valves of sort?

The thermostat housing you have is no longer available NLA. It is replaced by the new style with the brass "T" fitting and check valves (my photo).

C,D go to upper ex manifold inlet
E goes to water pump
F hose from oil cooler.
all that being said why do you want to get rid of the closed cooling????

I also have a couple of those tsat housing assemblies with the brass tee and check balls if you don't come up with anything.

I've heard from some if you convert a raw water to closed loop if the motor was originally a raw salt motor the conversion can invite issues from pieces of scale breaking lose and clogging heat exchange etc... not sure if I buy that but like I said I've heard it

New motor was installed about 6 years ago and the owner added the closed cooling as he was going to run some in salt water. The plumbing looks like chit. So I figured it was easier to plumb it back to what I am familiar with.
I will post pics. Might make sense to tidy up the closed cooling. My consern wa the heat exchanger condition and was thinking it would be a proactive move.
Oh and I run nothing but fresh water.
