Default 454 330hp vs. 454 mag sound

Why does the 330hp not have the same sound distance as the Mag.

My current boat has twin 330's and I think you could here my older 90 baja w/single mag from further away.

Both boats have built in swin platmforms.

the Mag has a bigger cam and bigger heads (rec vs oval)
both will increase sound slightly.

Default RPMs and more exhaust flow

Cam and valve train is the difference in the two engines. I suspect the difference is the mag pushes more exhuast with the higher rpms, thus louder sound travels a further distance. Pure speculation on my part and having had both engines. My modified 454 mags are very loud (more horsepower, louder, which means sound travelers further). Again my speculation. A 330 is pretty quite with stock exhaust, even when the exhaust is open above the water line.
