Any tricks to be sure they don't fall off?

They won't fall off. I have a pair but never use them. I like the sound of the unmuffled 525. They do work well though and I'm keeping mine in case I visit waters with noise police.

Can you buy just one? I had a set on my 26ZX and blew one right off the back of the boat.

Drill one small hole straight through and put a little screw in there it keeps that from happening.
