I thought of the same thing until Julie explained to me about why CC raced in p3 instead p1. Edward blew engines while racing at Solomons island and had to change engines so he had to race p3. He hopes to exchange engines back before Key West so he could run p1 again. Julie explained better in other thread.

Julie typed on her post:
No Chris we hurt our big guns in Solomons, came home ran the boat in some fresh water to wash out the salt water and BAM!!!! put a rod through the oil pan. So Ed had to put the 750hp Super Cat Engines back in it just to run Orange Beach and drop down to Class 3 in order to keep these engines running and not break them.

Cleveland Construction had different motors in the boat and only ran in Class 3
Some other may have turn it in and not came to OB, but not Ed, he came down and ran !!!!!!!!!!!
