Your post is vague, but I'll take a stab at it.
The switch is probably for a dummy light on the dashboard...Oil pressure above minimum=no light, low oil pressure=light comes on.
The sensor is probably for a gauge set-up.

Your oil pressure gage is not a gage at all. It's a glorified idiot light. All it does is tell you if you have pressure, not how much.
