Default Clone of Historic race boat

I was wondering what everyone thought about a clone of a historic race boat? I was thinking that it would be cool to have an old cig painted like the benihana boat. I know the original one has been restored. I was just thinkin what my next project would be and though guys clone old muscle cars all the time why not an old race boat. I would not want to sell it as the original just a project for me. The other wuestion that comes to mind is copyright if I were to duplicate the benihana boat would the folks at benihana want to sue me. Just something I was thinking about wanted to know what you guys think.

I think tribute boats are OK just like tribute cars are OK. The big point being that when someone asks you, answert it is NOT the original.

Several years ago some one restored a 38 bertram comp to the #6 boat (I think Sammy James drove it). There were only about `17 of these built so they are super rare anyway.

The late Paul Smith [Pete Smith,,THE WOLVERINE son] did that resto of the Bertram Comp, but that Bert was the old Natural Light race boat.

I am all for it , I am looking for a old Scarab , but the king of all finds for me would be Betty's 31' Bertram " Mongoose" , I have posted a few times on here looking for it but no responses. I dont think it exists anymore.

Red, there were several Benihanna boats-if your serious, check with Charlie McCarthy-he has the 35 Cigarette Benihanna.
