I've Redone My Transom For Bravo I. Haven't Measured Yet, But Old Sbc Motor Mounts Appear To Be To Far Forward.
I'd Like To Put My Merc. 454 In.
Whats The Best Way To Do New Mount Points If I Need To?....glass In New Block Supports Or Is There A Bolt On Option?
Have Pis Of Existing Mounts But Don't Know How To Post

The Boat Is Titled As A 1973 24' Eagle, But I've Seen The Exact Hull As A '90's 24' P&d And A Couple Others, So I'm Guessing The Mold Might Have Made The Rounds Over The Years. Its Built Like A Tank
I Beleive The X Dim. Is Set By The Adapter Plate. It Is Mfg. By Mercruiser For Bolt On Conversion From Volvo 270 To Bravo I.
I Know Just Enough To Get In Trouble, But My Guy Is A Cert. Mercruiser Dealer/mech. So I'll Pay Him The Big Bucks To Do The Install Correctly.
He's Pretty Conservative, Deals Mostly With Pleasure/fishing Set Ups - So He Is Squeaking A Little About The Step-up To The 454 As Too Being To Much Power- But Its A Stock 2001 7.4 Mpi. I've Seen Plenty Of 24' With Big Blocks, Except For Sitting A Little Lower In The Stern. I Think She'll Be Fine, Especially W/18" Tabs........opinions?
Thanks

From: Denmark and hopefully some place nice
Well should be ok. The reason why I asked about the x, was simply because if you had reglassed the transom and had the choice to raise it. Props has come a long way since then, and the shaft depth might been rather conservative from the factory. Thinking having an x-dim of about 15½", depending on your transom angle would be good. Something that would put your prop shaft 6-6½" below. Do you know what the current x-dim is?
