I don't really want to sell it, but i have no job right now and can't justify keeping her.
It's a '79 with a volvo 280pt outdrive, and the motor was replaced in 2001 with a quicksilver/mercruiser 260hp and is closed cooling. I am the 2nd owner of the boat, i bought it from the original owner late 2010 when he moved down here from ohio and realized that it is not a good boat for his fishing needs. It was dry stacked all its life until I acquired it in august 2010.
It's in really great shape, runs awesome, (less than 300 hrs on meter) carb was rebuilt in august, interior is in great shape except for a tear in the bottom of the rear seat. Interior is mint. Everything works except the vhf radio. (the original 8 track player works great!) It also has newer bennet trim tabs.
Mechanical issues are as follows :
the steering cable needs replaced. Last time i had it out a month ago and the steering cable broke. I may or may get it fixed soon (i live 160 miles from where i keep the boat)
other problem is very minor. A common problem with the 280pt outdrive is that the trim will gradually drift down over the period of a few days. It's been like that since i got it and has never been a problem. It's an internal flaw in the pump from new, and requires s different o rings to be replaced. The pump works so i never felt like tearing it apart. You never notice while using the boat or trailering it, but park it on the trailer with it in the up position and about 2-3 days later it will be down.
Trailer: gets the job done, new springs hubs and one axle, all tires are good, but it's just ugly.

I tried selling on ebay a while back but it was just a pain in the ass with bidders bidding and not paying, so i changed my mind and enjoyed it.

Isn't that the one that was at the Liquidator place on the East Coast of NC with a $2500 asking price (no trailer)??
That first 2 pics looks to be from the ad someone posted here a few months ago. I was thinking of going to look at it.
If my memory is slipping and it is not the same boat, sorry.
EDIT: Yeah, I am not crazy afterall...I knew I recognized the "Bullhorn" on the deck..

OP...this 233 Interceptor has been on Ebay twice without success.

I called the seller and he is willing to let it go for $2500. If it was closer to me it would be mine. I got shipping quotes in the $1400 range to get it to me in South Florida from North Carolina....it has no trailer. Seller says it starts, runs and he re-built the carb and tuned it up. It has a fresh water cooled Volvo 260...new in 2001. For around a $5000~$6000 total investment...this will make a great boat for someone and since it's a rare 233 Interceptor...it will maintain it's value.
FYI...just to give you another choice.

yes it's the same boat. they tried to sell it for me, but I finally got another trailer and brought it back home. I had the carb rebuilt by them, but then when i took it out again is when the steering cable broke. I recently lost my job and might have to sell it to pay some bills.

The next step is to know the market for a 32 year old gasoline powered boat...in an economy with 10% unemployment. The boat requires repairs that for most buyers requires a boat mechanic at about 85.00/hr. Find someone with a job that knows boats that is looking for that model...that understands that there are a few thousand dollars to be spent to get it right.
I would ask $3500...be willing to settle for $2000 depending on how quick you need the money. Don't even expect to recover what you have invested...doesn't work that way with boats.
Good luck with this.

can't really say what your boat's worth (seems like nothing brings much in this economy.) i've got the sister-ship to your boat- '79 233 interceptor with a much- modified 454 trs. this may be OT, but i noticed a not-too-old looking mooring cover in some of the pics. did you buy it new? if so, make? item#? my custom cover is pretty much shot and my canvas guy moved to fla. don't feel like spending $2k plus for another. any info will help. thanx, rich.
