In 1984-86 Wellcraft advertized a 45' Scarab with 12' beam and weight was listed at 17K. It appears to be a rare bird. Does anyone have further info on this boat?
Thanks very much.

Always been fascinated with the Scarab 45. It seems that there were quite a few designs that merged offshore characteristics with cruiser accommodation in those days. Something that appeals more and more to me with each passing year, and a concept that seems to have been largely abandoned.
I once happened across a brochure of the Scarab 45 on eBay a while back. The cabin was finished with large galley, and the usual opposing benches with generously sized v-berth. All covered in thick velour. I would imagine that only a handful were made. It was remarkably luxurious, and reminds one of the boats produced by Harley Boat Co.
This boat needs twin diesels and Arneson drives, for sure.
For those unfamiliar with this model, here is a scan of the specs from Wellcraft:

From here, just pick a year to the left of the screen to browse through the lineup.
It really is a shame that Wellcraft ceased production of performance boats. The Scarabs were some of the finest to have ever been produced.

Eventually Wellcraft made the 45 Excalibur which was a performance cruiser boat. This became the Riva and Four Winns/Riva. Eventually Riviera bought the rights and now makes the boat as an M470. It is a great boat for a performance boater wanting cruising amenities. It is a great boat and I would be happy to help anyone with their purchase of one
