Default Dash Indicator Lights Question

Simple question but I haven't found my answer by just looking. I'm new to fountain(not my first speed boat) and this forum. I'm completly changing my dash this winter. Can you take the factory red light indicators out without cutting the wires? Also has anyone tried these indicators?

I was wondering if they are annoyingly bright at night when trying to drive?

Thanks guys.

No, you'll have to cut the wires to remove them.

They never bothered me at night. The lights from the gauges reflected onto the windshield more than anything else. I just tossed a towel over the dash at nite when they were white. I changed them all over to red and so much better.

I installed those same LEDs for all the indicator lights. Much nicer than the original plastic ones, but they are bright! My factory ones had spade connecters on the back.

LEDs are current driven devices. A simple resistor in series with the power lead will dim the LED. Buy an assortment of resistors at Radio Shack. Start with ~500 ohms in series. Too bright? Add more resistance in series with the first. When you have achieved the desired intensity, install a fixed resistor of the required value. I recommend heat-shrink as well. The required resistor value will likely range from ~500 ohms - 2500 ohms.
