Default Ft Myers Offshore (FMO) season opener PHOTOS

Today was the season opener for Ft Myers Offshore. Events are normally on Sat; however, the weather postponed us until today. The official start was at the Sanibel Causeway Bridge, and due to sea conditions, the entire group ran 30 miles up the ICW to Charlotte Harbor, and then 12 miles across the harbor to Burnt Store Marina.

I have something like 1,000 photos, most are sky and water (it was very bumpy), but every once in a while, somehow boat got into a shot. I also have about 150 shots, of the group before the start, coming into the marina, and at the docks. It will take me some time to go through them, and get them posted.

Here are a few running shots, to get you started.

Nice pics once again Frank and thanks for posting. A pleasure to have you on board today. We always wish for blue skies and water but next time we will hope. Fun ride with a great group.

FMO Chairman Bob (bobthebuilder) had told me that our regular photog Jay (naplesimages)
was not available, and if I would consider, doing some more photos than I normally do.
After some consideration, I decided I would leave may boat home this time, and ride
with Bob.

I am not a 'pro' photog, I do not have the years of experience that the 'pros' have and I
have a lot to learn. I made some 'rookie' mistakes; however, I had a good time, and the
participants enjoy seeing the photos.

Next month, I will be back in my boat.

It was a very bumpy ride. I kept saying to myself,

do not drop the camera,
do not drop the camera

and

stop hitting yourself in the face with the camera

Nice pics! I guess it is the angle but that Outerlimits looks pretty short. Oh, and I like the guy driving the Baja wearing a Cig t-shirt.

the day after shooting a run, I sometimes have to explain to people why my face is red and blotchy.

Good stuff, Frank.

Sorry that I missed this one, see you guys soon.

Yeah, it is the angle. That boat is long enough for tripps.
