im doing up my cockpit area this winter and just ordered new guages my boat has a separate panel bolted into the dash to house the guages im thinking about wrapping that panel and a few other parts to update that area of the cockpit. Ive looked at a few instructional videos and seems like carbon fiber lays up just like matte and resin, anybody else out there tried this? Tips would be helpful, also from looking around on the internet prices for the actual sheets varies wildly. i will post up a pic of the dash

If the parts are not broken, you can have them Hydro-Graphic dipped for any look that you want. The people that do that have thousands of different patterns and it costs nearly nothing to have done.

There is a guy "up here" named "Joe Vanoverbeek" who makes C/'F race car bodies and will sell small pieces, I had him make me a piece to mount all my MSD stuff on in a Pro Street car, looks awesome, but, remember it will conduct power, so, make sure you ground it, Found that out the hard way! LOL

thanks for the alternative options but i really want to wrap the panel in cf there are a couple of side panels that mount to my faring that are upholstered now that im thinking will get done the whole cockpit interior is getting re done this winter

are you wanting to wrap the existing panels or make new ones?

i want to wrap the dash panel for the gauges but there are two padded panels that run down the inside of the windscreen faring next to the bolsters those im assuming i would have to fabricate something why do you ask

its a different process for each. Wrapping a large flat panet with holes in it will require a lot of finish work and its very tough to control the final surface. Plus if that panel is alluminum you might run into delamination problems down the road. You might be better off making a quickie mold with a piece of sheetmetal or something and fabbing a new one.
