The problem is those electric shifts. The style is no problem at all they are everywere. If you want you can take the electric shift out of your transmision and swap them to Mechanical shift. This is in my opinion preffered for two reasons. One is that it is a mechanical movement now and we all know how electronics are on boats. Second is the electric shift can take a while to shift so if you need it fast you are bumming. The machanical one it shifts almost instantly.

hey sylvester, any chance i could stop out an take a look at that magnum. i am a huge fan of them and have been looking for a 27 sport for some time. i always enjoy looking at the other models and have never had a chance to see a 28 (maltese ?)

by the way a friend of mine has a morse control off his 87 fountain and i think he would sell it if that helps ( dont know if it is electric though)

Merc still sells the mechanical shift conversion kits, but hang on to your wallet! They are ridiculously priced. Also, if you ever need a replacement electric-shift motor, they can't be repaired, and they are NLA. I got lucky when my TRS MercTrans electric shift-motor burned out, Scott at Intense Marine in Miami sold me a good used unit for cheap.
