Question Sort of OT Oil filter question.....

I have a spare mercruiser fuel/water sep houseing. I was thinking of putting an oilfilter on it and useing it as an outside Trans filter........ Are there any differences between oil and trans filters? Like the K&N external trans filter?? Any help would be great!

The passeges are real small through the fuel/water separator. I redrilled and tapped mine to 3/8" and ported the internals. Don't know how much flow your trans requires, but it's something to consider.

the trans lines are 3/8" so re-sizeing the houseing is not a prob......just concerned about the filters being different!
