Default 1977 24ft gem

Found this the other day. I was tossing around the idea of buying, Anyone have any input on these old SB's

Drive is fresh #3 racing stern power. Trans has just been rebuild, Engine is new. The seller has known the orginal owners(3 total) Solid floor, transom, stringers and front bow("my 400 lb friend can bounce on it and it dont move").

Owner claims 91 MPH but does have a bit of a chime walk that fast(which i would only assume is normal at this speed).

Everything is orginal even the paint.

Not trying to stir up anything but the only way that boat will hit 91 is on the freeway behind a truck . It would take 700 Hp and that does not look like a big hp motor . If he did see 91 he has a dream-O_meter and not a GPS .............

Engine is 630-650 hp, 496 bored out to a 502. 10.5:1 compression. The seller did lower the current speed 86 mph running at 4800 rpm with more stick left. Guy didn't want to push it any harder due to it being fresh engine. Transmission is also a 1:1 drive ratio.

OK break it down like this , 24' Superboat hull is worth $5k , Good dual axel trailer $2500 , BBC unknown reliability $1500 , #3 outdrive with tranny $2500 , Lathum steering $2k , K planes $1k and I see he says everything else is new so in the end it all adds up ..
He's asking $11500 and I would think it you showed up with $10 you could probably leave with a boat .

As far as the break in of a motor i'm gonna have to say .
I grew up in a speed and performance shop and there are two schools of thought on this but I go with the run it like your gonna run it rite out of the gate . Teach your motor to run like a pu$sy and a pu$sy motor is what you got .
Think about how many motors are put together and taken right out on the track or down the dragstrip or dropped in a boat just before the race .

Buy the boat , looks like a good deal !
