Default Propeller -- Rubber Hub?

Hey guys looking at purchasing a new prop for the old girl, called Michigan Wheel and they expressed concerns at my power level with a rubber isolated hub. Dynoed 540hp 570 tq.

Running the 2nd gen OMC King (1992). I saw a best of 63mph on the stock motor (with stainless marine manifolds) running a 14 3/8 x 21" Ballistic @ 5150, and just under 62 @ 52xx with a 14.5 x 20" Raker (the boats stock prop).

After the build I can easily spin the 21" Ballistic to 5400, that's when I throttle back to keep from over revving. Purchased a 22" Raker (also has a rubber isolated hub) off ebay to try in the Spring, I have run it and it felt ok but I wasn't really pushing it as I was just getting hours on the boat before I put it away. I was looking at the 23" Ballistic as another option to keep the R's down if I need to, also with a rubber isolated hub.

Thoughts? Do you guys run props with rubber isolated hubs? Guess I never really thought about the hub before...

I've seen spun hubs with less power than yours, but have also seen rubber hubs survive with more. Personally, I'd consider something with a solid hub like the Mirage+ 23" or Revolution4 23". If the hub gives at WFO, you'll need to be quick on the stick to prevent massive over rev. Cheap insurance.

Problem is OMC -- does Mirage or Rev make OMC?

Or maybe it's time to get a good rev limiter...

I would get a solid hub for that much HP.

They do make a hub kit, but I honestly can't remember if it's solid or not. I'm pretty sure they do. Give Brett @ Bblades a call, he can set you up with whatever you need.

Yes you can, any good prop shop should be able to do it with a press and the right press tools. Not sure for sure on mirage, but you can on MOST rubber hub propellers.
