2000 Ford F250 Crew Cab Super Duty
6.8L V-10
Automatic
125,000 miles
Built in DVD Player
Truck is in good shape has the normal rust spots starting to show, above the rear tires and the bottom of the doors and a dent in the drivers side rear cab from 5th wheel and the tail gate is a slightly different color. It needs new ball joints and has the typical broken header bolts issue so there is a leak on the passanger side of the motor. I have MOOG ball joints they just need installed. Asking $6200.00 obo.
Looking to replace my 2000 Sierra 1500 with 276,000 miles.

I have never owned one, but I have been in one when towing and the V10 just ain't where it's at!!!
I would look for a diesel!! or a GMc/chevy 2500. The performance of the GM V8's blow the early 2000's fords away. Ford is more advaanced in design with the modular motors but they didn't really make good power 10 yrs ago.
Hell you might even come accrossed a GM 496 big block in one!
I love the look of the f250 super duty compared to the gmc/chevy but I think you would hate that v10.
A 7.3 diesel with 200,000 on it will still smoke that v10!! I have had the 7.3 in an f350 crew cab dually and I sold it to a friend. It still runs great with 225,000 on it now and will smoke those 4 rear tires with no problems!!
Just my 2 or more like 10 cents.....

Jay, those v-10s are good strong motors after you get all the chit figured out. I have one I use for plowing. They have a ton of torque and I think would tow your boat nice. They could have the worst mpg ever!! Mine gets about 7 all the time plowing or not. I had an 7.3 before and a 6.4 now and the v-10 is way faster than both for what its worth. Sounds like a decent deal. If I had the choice I would choose the 7.3 but they are getting hard to find without a ton of miles. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another v-10

Ford V10s are great, until you put something on the trailer hitch. They had manifold problems, and early ones are known for ejecting spark plugs. They are not known as great tow vehicles. Pass.

Have an '03 w/V10 and never an issue, though only has 50k. Won't pull the trailer out from under the boat on take off, but does the job for me otherwise. Have read about the plug issues (not sure which motor yrs that is a problem) I ain't skeered

Thanks guys, not really looking for a truck with bad gas mileage once you hook something to it. Had a friend with an awesome Chevy 2500HD with the 496 and that was worse mileage vehicle I think I have ever been in. It was cheaper to take my 1500 to the U.P. with the snowmobile trailer and throw $1 out the window every mile than take that truck.
Maybe I might start looking at diesels. Would like an older Duramax but they are still expensive. How are the 6.0L 2500's?

Whats the main purpose of this truck? List everything you need and want it for. Will you daily drive it? Etc. Budget?
Diesel is nice but any truck in the 6k price range will break down. So just depends on what you want.
Texas has a ton of good deals on trucks so check there.

I've owned many heavy duty work trucks for my business over the decades and the 7.3's ruled.
My Ford V10's 10 years ago and the 6.0 diesel I had about 7 years ago sucked bad.
The only decent load pulling gas engined rigs recently that were truly worthy were the 03 and 05 GMC HD2500 4dr fleet side PU's. What's funny is I bought an 07 GMC standard cab and chassis 1 ton 350 with the 6.0 gas / 6 speed auto and a stakebed, I found the 3/4 ton fleetsides to be better work trucks.
IMO only, run like your life depended on it away from the Ford V10 in a 4dr heavy duty work truck.
The other members are correct about Texas for affordable trucks, I just recently purchased an 04 350 4dr Dodge 5.9 for 10k off of Craigslist with 175k miles. I;ve had great luck with the Dodge 5.9's.
See ya,
Kelly
