Default Missing 502MPI

Just got back from a day of boating only my third outing since a fuel pressure problem. Now I have an electrical. When I left the dock I noticed that the guages were jumping around occasionally. My fuel pressure gauge was steady. After a few minutes of running(got out of the river and into the bay) the motor started missing. I was missing everytime I hit a wave the gauges were jumping at the same time the motor was missing. I keep a code scanner in the glove box so I stopped and ran the diagnostics. It gave me a 42(Electronic Spark Timing) and a 43(Electronic Spark Control). Obviously this is the cause of my problem. My question is. What specific component is the saying is bad? The pick-up in the distributer? The EMC? A loose wire? Is there a way to check the electronic pick up in the distributer?Has anyone had these symptoms or trouble codes before? An help would be greatly appreciated. Ough yeah it is cycling at idle. reving up and down from 500 to 1200 RPMS.

Make sure the engine harness is plugged in properly. Check all of the of the plugs and the grounds. It sounds like a bad connection, usually a harness plug.

Check your grounds and make sure the one at the battery is good and tight.

i had some of the same symptoms today. ends up that the connections at the battery were loose, not falling off just a little loose. hope your fix is something this simple,

I will be sure to remove the battery cables, clean them and make sure they are tight.
