All the Garmin 4200 series and up have video inputs for cameras so you could use that for the video screen. I don't know if you can tie in a recorder as well.

Can I just buy a go pro recorder and hook it up to LCD screen?

That is a good question. I have a gopro and am getting a Garmin 4208 for Christmas. (I was a very good boy this year! )

I will look through the instructions after I get it and see if that would work.

GoPro has a video out put so I don`t see why not.

At 130mph you wanna make sure nobody is passing in your blind spot makes sense

One thing to keep in mind using a go pro is that the video will be reversed. Garmin and other manufactures actually make reverse image cameras that you can install. I installed one on my 28 Skater in the middle of the motors. I suggest hooking it up and playing with the position so that you can see if there is any blockage. Mine works great and I like the fact I do not have to worry about the battery going dead, camera getting knocked off etc. Camera is mounted about grab rail. Made a custom wedge to set the angle.
I have mine hooked to my 5208 as an input along with a Nightvision camera in the bow.
