Default cracked headers

I have a set of Stelling headers with one crack 1/16" long in the collector and several pin holes at the bolt on flange. Can these be welded or are they scrap? thanks

If it is on the out side of the header, not the inner piping, then it should be no problem to fix.. If it is inside, it could become a big pita

As long as they can be reached with a small torch, they can probably be fixed. CMI will repair CMI headers, I dont know about stellings. I am sending mine out here shortly to fix a few cracks.

And yes, I know that it will only be temporary, that once they start cracking they will continue to crack, but I would rather spend $400 a year per set getting them welded up than spending $5k a set for new ones.

I was looking at a boat with Stellings big tubes on it and got a price of about $500 from Stelling to test, fix, and polish. Shipping to the West Coast was the kick-in-the-a$$.

I have sent quite a few sets of headers to Stellings to fix. I have always been very happy with the results and the pricing. Anything in the collector area and they will usually just cut the collector off and replace it with a new one.

I sent my Stellings headers out this year to get a collector repaired. According to Stellings this is the most costly repair and it was $450 and they came back looking new. I think shipping was like $60 so not that bad. Stellings doesn't do the repair they send it to a local guy who does it for them.

I dont know how to test them.
I also dont know if the test is with water or with air pressurize in with gauge to check if they are leak.

I think the two way can be made to test them.

Any idea...

I put about 40lbs in them, then dunk in a big tank of water and watch for bubbles. easiest way IMO. I have also tried spraying the collector with soapy water, but it is not as easy to see smaller cracks that way.
