Thinking about buying a GM crate or a used gen VI wondering about what it would take to run it with a TRS merctrans. I have gen iv stainless marine exhaust i want to run.
Mostly wondering about the flywheels i know i would need fuel pump... any info would be great.

Flywheel should be drilled and threaded for the merctrans drive plate and the ring gear for a bottom mount starter. The heavy stick shift type flywheel. Should already be drilled and threaded already.

I already have a trs flywheel gen IV, i was wondering about balancing though i heard gen VI flywheel was different (balanced?)
Well if getting the stickshift type flywheel for a gen VI is the easiest way that is good info.

If you plan on going to the gen VI than you will need an external balanced heavy stickshift flywheel for a gen V or gen VI. Their the same. Your Merctrans drive plate will use the exisiting threaded holes in the flywheel that were intended for the clutch pressure plate. Gen IV flywheels will not work as they are for 2 piece rear main seal cranks. Gen V & VI use a one piece rear main seal crank.
