Not to get the thread off track, but how long is it going to take the chopper to get there when somebody goes over and the chopper is 20 miles away. With what happened in Key West I think that should be a thought.

I know thats how it was done back in the day, but for the most part they were open boats back then. They were also running a lot slower.

Maybe a mandatory 20 min automatic air supply should be required to compete in such a race these days. Opening that conversation would be another can of worms.

Good question - although cats are technically allowed in the rules none of the organisers accept entries from them in the UK as it's Cats that usually have the big accidents - Round Britain in 2008 didn't have air cover, the boats were all pretty much under 100mph.

European racing is as you probably already know very different and we will be doing up to 300+ miles a day unsupported with only a few safety boats and most of the time out of sight of anyone other than other competitors.
