How many people have used Mechanical Cams? And how big of one has been used?
I am debating between three of them right now in a 556ci big block with Brodix BB4 STS heads. Has anyone used one of these, cams as these are what I have picked out of the Crane book.

5200-5500 rpm as per the normal.
The cams will make power up to 7200 and I realize that but I'll never run a prop small enough to spin that fast.
Hydraulic rollers just don't make the power of a mechanical cam.

By the way I too run a solid with hyd morel lifters so I get it. I turn 6k though.

Running that RPM, you might as well just go hydraulic. I was running a pretty decent mechanical in my 598ci N/A that was spun 6300-6500 rpm, dropped a valve, changed to a milder hydraulic and still spin 6000rpm regularly, lost a decent amount of power but the overall driveability is worlds better.
Engine made 800hp with a .697/.697 @ valve and 262/272 @.050 solid roller.

I also run solid rollers. Like mountainmadness I spend an hour/engine at the start of the year. @ 0.050 252 / 264, lift 0.632/0.669" on a 108* 6000RPM.
Only reason I run solids is cause I have a lot invested in Isky Red zones and don't want to drop another $1200/engine on new cams and lifters.

I got a stupid good buy on the lifters, so it's solid rollers for me.
Setting the valves once per season is no big deal I'll probably check them and possibly reset them more then that but this is going to be my poker run and long week end weapon.
I still have my Regal for daily and regular outings and with it running mid 80's it's not exactly slow.
I was just curious what everyone is running and how it's going for them, and the last two posts have given me an idea. Similar duration to the cams I ended up ordering but smaller lift at higher rpm.
