Question 27 daytona top speed

hey everyone im new here! I recently owned a 26 daytona with a 525 in it with a xr sportmaster case. in march i had a house fire and lost the boat in my garage. that was the altimate boat for me. the looks, the engine, the noise, the speed. but i had just perchased a 27 eliminator out of texas, (im from Maryland by the way)and the boat has a 496ho with sporttube cmi's. havent had it in water yet. its only 20 degrees here. i was wondering what the boat would run with what prop. it has a bravo x with 1:5 gears. any suggestions would help. im thinking of pro charging the engine next year and only running 3.5 psi of boost. talked to alot of people and they say the will live with that, incount of the cast pistons and crankshaft. i also was able to keep my 525 out of the other boat, but it needs to be painted and new wire harness. internals are fine. i had the engine hatch down and the fiberglass matting insulated the engine compartment. only problem is the hatch scoop melted on top of intake. so if any one has this set up, if you wouldnt mind letting me know what youre running. thanks

I was to take delivery of my new 26' the day before my garage burned up. The morning after the fire I called the dealer and told him I was glad he did not make it when he was going to.

Sorry to hear about your fire. I know what you are going thru. I lost my motor home, 3 wave runners, 4 wheeler, & tractor amoung many other things. I will get better after time. Since we had the fire I will not let the wife have a fire in the fieplace or light a candle.

Now what I would do with your new boat. Get your old motor fixed up and install it in the boat, then sell the 496. If you want more HP, then put a whipple on your 525. You will be way happer in the end. Get working on it now so you will be ready come spring time.

Would love to see a pic of the new boat? Is it the 27 icc or standard deck?....Nice size boat!

im from hagerstown, md. we run on a very small part of the potomac river. and we branch out to raystown lake and will be attending the poker run at smith mountain lake in virginia in may. the guy i bought it off of said it ran 76 with the 26 pitch bravo and 80 with a 28 pitch bravo. 80 sounds a little much to me. i do have a stock 28 and a 28 i had worked at r and r prop shop for my 26 daytona i might try that prop also. but they do say with the cmi sport tubes it puts the 496ho at around 475hp and my 26 daytona with the 525 would run 90-91mph with the 28 worked prop. so i guess we will see. i would love to drop the 525 in it but it needs some work before i do so and money is going to be tight for the next year or so tring to get back on our feet from the fire. thanks for the input!
