Machining intake for Bosch Injectors?
#1
Does anyone have a print showing diameters and depth for machining the intake to accept the injectors?
They are Bosch, I believe the number on the injector is 81887? The body dia. is .520 "O" dia .562. From
the shoulder to tip is .75, tip is .263 dia. I can take a rough guess but a print would be nice. I am a full CNC machine shop so it is pretty easy.....but I hate guessing.

Would it make sense to buy the rails and 1 injector bung to measure from, http://www.racepartsolutions.com/products.asp?cat=108

The rail is easy....It's the intake manifold....should only the angled tip extend into the manifold?

Here's a couple pictures from the Holley site. I kept the tip of the injector flush with the angle cut of the bung on the ones we built. I thought it might atomise better.

We've built a few sucessfull efi manifolds so I 'll see if our experience can be a help. Is the injector targeted at the valve or is it just spraying pretty much into a runner? If its a targeted (narrower spray pattern) it is best to keep turbulence and high speed air away fro the tip where it can disrupt the spray pattern and cause fuel to collect on the port walls and fail to atomize. If this is the case I would just have the lower portion of the injector exit slightly larger than the injector tip and slightly recessed or shielded with a manifold bulge or protrusion above the injector. If the injector is just spraying with a wider spray pattern into the intake runner then this is not as critical and a full size opening or projection or recess is not as important. If the intake has the ability to face or aim the injector more at the valve or intake bowl or throat then this will generally give a better air fuel mix into the chamber and generally a better burn and power produced with less chance for air fuel seperation.
Hope this all makes sense and is helpfull.
