Im looking at the new Pantech eliment from ATT
Pro's / Con's ?

I use my iPad with a Dual (brand) WiFi GPS in the airplane. I carried paper charts for a long time. Now I pay $100 a year for all the charts instead of $100 every 56 or 28 days for a few charts.
The best thing is now my plane is geo-referenced on the actual chart (scanned) in by the company (wingX).
I don't know of there's a comparable app for boating, but there should be.

Sweet now I just need a app for remote cameras in the bilge to view the motors under way

Dreamer: How do 'see' your iPad screen in direct sunlight??? Does your iPad overheat and shutdown constantly?

you can do that through Lowrance gps/chartplotter, i have the ability in my tiger for it.

Navionics has a pretty nice set of charts for Droid based Tablets/Phones. Works quite well.

I dig that the pantech is water proof.

I have a Ipad and love but don't want to get it wet, the weather proof cases don't look very dunk proof
